About Us

Our History

Helping Hands Outreach Center of Gasconade County was incorporated as a 501c3 in 2003. From the start our organization is run 100 percent by volunteers and continues in this model today. Helping Hands has been housed in several locations over the years. Due to limited of space, we frequently had to store frozen food items at various churches in the community.

In 2018 through a capital fundraising campaign and the generosity of the local community, we were able to purchase our current building and make modifications to better suit our mission. Today, this facility located at 3522 Kosark Road in Owensville serves as the hub of our food distribution operation.

Our organization is governed by an elected board of directors. Anyone may become a member of HHOC for an annual membership donation of $1.00. Volunteers continue to be a central part of all of our work.

Mission

The mission of Helping Hands Outreach Center is to provide commodities and emergency food to persons in need and to serve as a clearing house for the Owensville-Rosebud Ministerial Alliance and the Owensville Salvation Army. Helping Hands seeks to provide services pursuant to Section 501(c) (3) and other sections of the Internal Revenue Code.

In providing assistance to persons in need, in accordance with Federal Law and U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, this Corporation is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of religion, race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability.

Board Meetings

The board of directors meets the third Monday of each month at 5:30 pm at the center. A membership meeting is held each January for elections and reports.
