Programs & Events

How to Get Assistance

Complete the form and visit the Food Pantry on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm or on the first Saturday of each month from 10 am -12 pm. Please note that we can only provide assistance to those living in Gasconade County.
Clients are received in the order in which they arrive. A trained volunteer will talk to you about your needs and ask for information regarding your eligibility for certain services such as USDA commodities. It is helpful if you complete the information about your and your household members’ income.
Once the volunteer has determined your needs, an order of food will be placed into your vehicle by our volunteers. If you need to have someone pickup your food for you will need to complete this proxy form.
Emergency food is also available
If you need assistance with gas money, medicine, utilities, etc., a pastor from the Owensville/Rosebud Ministerial Alliance will be at Helping Hands on Thursdays at 11:00 am. If you need help with rent or utilities, you will need to bring a bill or copy of your lease with you.

Programs

USDA Commodities: For those eligible for commodities, the pantry serves as the clearing house for distribution of USDA commodities. Eligibility Guidelines

Emergency Food: Emergency food is available during regular business hours for clients who may or may not be eligible for commodities.

Salvation Army: The Owensville/Rosebud Ministerial Alliance is an extension unit of the Salvation Army and has limited funds for help with utilities and rent, etc. through the Salvation Army bell ringing campaign funds. Keep in mind these funds are limited.

Owensville/Rosebud Ministerial Alliance: The Ministerial Alliance has funds which have been donated by churches and members of our local community. These funds are available for gas, medicine and needs that can be provided by local businesses that accept Ministerial Alliance vouchers. One overnight accommodation may be provided through the Owensville Police Department.

Operation Christmas: Provides food, clothing, and toys to eligible families during the Christmas season. To receive items from Operation Christmas, families must complete an application which is usually available in early November. Only families living in Gasconade County and the Gasconade R-2 School District are eligible.

Events

Mobile Market: Additional perishable foods are distributed from the St. Louis Food Bank generally 4th Friday of each month (except December) from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

School Backpack Program: Provides take home weekend meals to eligible students in the Gasconade County R-2 School District. To enroll in this program, contact the school family liaison.

Drive Through Back-to-School Fair: The Owensville/Rosebud Ministerial Alliance gives away backpacks and school supplies in the Gasconade R-2 School district at a drive through event in August. Registration at Helping Hands begins in late July.

Diaper Program: Through Mama Llamas Care, a limited number of disposable diapers and wipes are available at HHOC.

The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
